Nutritional Testing Using Zyto Technology
The LSA improves quality of life by helping you balance your body’s stress system through better therapeutic decisions for both patient and practitioner alike.
Our bodies are made up of various systems that can respond to stimuli. The smell of food (stimulus) triggers the mouth to salivate (response). A loud noise (stimulus) triggers the release of adrenaline into the blood and an increased heart rate (response).
There are various ways to measure the body’s response to stimuli. One way is GSR or Galvanic Skin Response. GSR measures the conductivity (how well something conducts electricity) of the largest organ in the body, the skin. The conductivity of the skin was first discovered around 1888 by Tarchanoff. In the early 1900’s it was established by Dr. Carl Jung that GSR measurements could track physiological arousal or stress in the body. In the 1930’s Dr. Hans Selye began to uncover the importance of understanding stress and what information it could tell us about the different systems of the body. These discoveries of the importance of stress in the body and its ability to be measured through GSR have led to the creation of many common devices, such as the polygraph test.
Late in the 20th century, many researchers identified further uses for GSR, such as recognizing that it could be monitored on acupuncture points to measure the body’s energy meridians. GSR could be used to track the body’s energetic state and balance.
In the late 1990’s, integrating Eastern Medicine with Western research in stress and GSR, Dr. Vaughn R Cook began research to advance the theory of the body’s internal “Stress System” that is related to and interacts with all other systems of the body. A balanced stress system brings about optimal quality of life, whereas, an imbalanced system leads to problems that may show up such as fatigue, weight gain, low energy, chronic pain, etc...
The LSA System was developed to measure the body’s Stress System. Much like a polygraph technician asking a subject questions and evaluating the body’s response, the LSA uses GSR to measure the Stress System’s response to virtual stimuli in real time. In a sense the LSA asks the body questions and measures how the body responds. This information leads to the creation of a “Stress Profile” which reveals the state of balance and imbalance within the Stress System. The LSA next queries the body with possible balancing solutions and measures the response to determine the best approaches.
Through implementation of these solutions the Stress System can become more balanced which leads to improved quality of life for the individual.
Detoxification
Detoxification/Cleansing is the process of addressing the toxins in the body. The liver, digestive tract, kidneys, bladder, lymphatic system, lungs, and skin are the major systems/organs that are involved in the neutralization and elimination of toxins.
As a society, we face increasing amounts of challenges in our environment. We encounter substances every day from the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink, including: medications, pesticides, heavy metals, fumes, synthetic materials, cigarette smoke, caffeine, preservatives, and much more. In addition to these environmental challenges, our bodies produce waste by-products (such as ammonia, carbon dioxide, and free radicals) as a result of normal metabolism that need to be eliminated. If these toxins are not neutralized and eliminated, the result is suboptimal health.
The National Institute of Health (NIH); the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI); the National health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES); leading medical journals; and the media all report that Americans are overweight in epidemic proportions. How did this happen? Americans consume large portions of the wrong kinds of foods, such as refined foods and snacks loaded with sugar, instead of balanced meals that include good-quality proteins (fresh meat, poultry, and seafood), fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. These poor diet choices combined with a sedentary lifestyle cause weight gain, resulting in numerous health problems.
The ideal weight management program takes time. It needs to be gentle, reduce excess fat stores, be high in fiber and low in fat, increase muscle, and ensure that the amount of metabolic energy being used is greater than the amount of calories consumed. All of this needs to occur without losing muscle mass, which can be maintained by consuming vital nutrients. Once the ideal weight is reached, maintaining it requires that the amount of energy expended is equal to the energy intake.
Healthy liver function supports the body in burning fat for energy. The nutrients and dietary recommendations in our detoxification programs revolve around feeding the body the nutrients it needs to support optimal liver function. In addition to its role in fat burning, the liver also synthesizes fatty acids from amino acids and sugars and assists in producing lipoproteins, cholesterol, and phospholipids. The liver makes a substance called glucose tolerance factor (GTF) from chromium and glutathione. GTF partners with the body’s natural insulin to regulate and maintain healthy blood sugar levels. The liver converts any sugars that are not required for immediate energy needs into glycogen and fat. Glycogen is stored both in the liver and in muscle tissue. The fat is deposited in undesirable areas.
